Fruit or Vegetable?

Fun

Thought some of you might find this entertaining and informative:

What is a Fruit/Vegetable?

Q: “I heard that the tomato is considered a fruit, and the watermelon a vegetable. How is an edible plant determined to be either one or the other? What are the characteristics of a fruit/vegetable?” Scott Connelly

A: “Hi Scott, A ‘fruit’ is any fleshy material covering a seed or seeds. Most fruits, from a horticultural (science of cultivating) perspective, are grown on a woody plant, with the exception of strawberries. Or you can say, generally a fruit is the edible part of the plant that contains the seeds. So your eggplant, tomato, cucumber and zucchini are fruits.

Scott Connelly's Rules for Meeting Celebrities

Fun

The Rule

Celebrities can be anybody famous, or infamous. They can be actors, musicians, authors, newsmakers, even politicians and sports stars.

I have a rule. Actually a series of rules called “Scott Connelly’s Rules for Meeting Celebrities,” or simply, The Rule:

  1. Greeting: Self-explanatory.
  2. Preamble: “It is an honor/pleasure to meet you.” A handshake might also be attempted. If the celebrity is a politician or sports star, this rule may be avoided (see below).
  3. Praise: “I loved your last [movie/album/book/etc].” or “[This particular movie/book/etc.] of yours was my favorite.” For politicians and sports stars, a negative opinion could be volunteered instead, but these people will probably want a valid or intelligent reason for your displeasure. “I didn’t like your attitude or how you looked” is not valid. Be careful – the sports star might get violent.
