Secret: CR Solution

Well, you've accidentally landed on it (I hope)...

If you haven't already tried your hand, and succeeded, at solving the puzzle, I urge you not to read on. Half the fun lies in emerging triumphant from agony, so at least give it a few hours or even a few days. It'll come to ya eventually.

The purpose of this page is to chronicle one solution path to the puzzle, which we shall not name, and to serve as a reference to those who have already solved it successfully. I avoid naming it so as to prevent easy discovery by Googling. ;oP

After loading the f.las.h, here goes:

  1. Click through the m.onologu.e, observe the a.bou.t i.tem.s area on the right of the view
  2. Click to get out of the b.e.d, observe the d.oo.r
  3. Curious about the C.D p.laye.r, clicking on it shows you that it's a s.tal.e p.laye.r
  4. Curious about the b.ow.l next to the p.laye.r, click on it
    1. Perspective changes, click again
    2. Pick up the t.hi.n r.in.g
  5. Click the d.resse.r surface to back away, then click on the two d.rawer.s without k.eyhole.s
    1. Pick up the C.D from the upper left d.rawe.r
      • Clicking on C.D (or any i.te.m) under the a.bou.t i.tem.s area allows you to find out more about the i.te.m
    2. Pick up the m.emorandu.m from the upper right d.rawe.r
      • Click on m.emorandu.m to note a U.R.L on it
  6. Clicking the other d.rawer.s tells you that they're l.ocke.d, so we should look for some k.ey.s
    1. Click the right of the view to turn right until a w.indo.w d.rap.e comes into view
    2. Click on d.rap.e to open it and pick up the s.ilve.r k.e.y
    3. See the h.ead boar.d of a b.e.d and click on it to turn to the b.e.d
    4. Click on the w.hit.e p.illo.w to l.if.t it up and pick up a g.olde.n k.e.y underneath it
    5. Now turn back to the d.resse.r to open the remaining d.rawer.s
      1. Click on the g.olde.n k.e.y under a.bou.t i.tem.s and then click the lower left d.rawe.r to u.nloc.k it (we'll call this applying an i.te.m to X)
      2. Open the d.rawe.r and pick up a p.owe.r s.uppl.y c.abl.e
      3. Do likewise with s.ilve.r k.e.y to pick up a s.mal.l c.rimso.n b.o.x from the lower right d.rawe.r
  7. Apply the p.owe.r s.uppl.y c.abl.e to the C.D p.laye.r and enable it
    1. Click the p.owe.r b.utto.n to s.witc.h on the p.laye.r
    2. Click the C.D h.olde.r to e.jec.t it and find and pick up an ordinary k.e.y inside
  8. At this point, most of the obvious things are found... wait! Look under the d.resse.r and pick up a c.assett.e t.ap.e
    • Getting interesting...
  9. Now begin exploring the rest of the r.oo.m and try to figure out any relationships between the i.tem.s
    1. One relationship you find is that the t.hi.n r.in.g fits into the right-side h.ol.e of the b.o.x
    2. This implies that we're missing two i.tem.s that would fit into the remaining h.ole.s
  10. Through some trial and error, we find three more i.tem.s:
    1. C.los.e, open, c.los.e, open, and then c.los.e the d.rap.e to s.hak.e off a t.hic.k r.in.g
    2. L.if.t the p.illo.w and then click on the h.ead boar.d very close to the edge of the b.e.d to reveal a m.eta.l s.tic.k
    3. Face the c.rimso.n w.al.l and click on the lower left piece of the p.urpl.e floor to reveal a b.atter.y on a h.idde.n c.orne.r of the b.e.d f.ram.e
  11. Now we have the things we need for the c.rimso.n b.o.x
    1. Click on the b.o.x and apply the t.hic.k r.in.g and the m.eta.l s.tic.k
    2. Click on b.o.x top to open it
    3. Apply the m.issin.g b.atter.y
    4. Apply the c.assett.e t.ap.e
    5. Click on what looks like a p.rojectin.g l.en.s
    6. A m.ovi.e is p.rojecte.d... watch it for c.lue.s
  12. After a while, notice that the d.ancin.g m.a.n p.oint.s to a s.po.t, and notice that a s.ta.r appears t.hre.e times
    1. Wait until the m.ovi.e is over, then click that s.po.t exactly t.hre.e times
      • If you mess up, just reopen the b.o.x and rerun the m.ovi.e by clicking on the l.en.s
    2. Wait for a h.idde.n piece of the w.al.l to be revealed
    3. Click only once on the w.al.l piece to reveal the safe
    4. Opening the s.af.e requires using the m.emorandu.m
      1. Find the URL... it's a m.issin.g p.ag.e... but find any page that may have been cached or stored
      2. Read the n.umbe.r on that p.ag.e
      3. Apply the n.umbe.r to the s.af.e
      4. Apply the o.rdinar.y k.e.y to open the s.af.e
      5. Pick up the s.traigh.t s.cre.w d.rive.r
  13. Almost there, can you e.scap.e now?
